Bush Air Pollution Plan a Threat to Air Quality; National Parks Group Says Plan Fails to Protect Parks

President Bush's "Clear Skies Initiative," an air pollution plan introduced in Congress today, will not clean up the air pollution that poisons America's national parks, according to the National Parks Conservation Association (NPCA). "At a time when our parks need real leadership to restore their future, the president is putting a giant roadblock in the path to cleaning up the air pollution plaguing national parks," said Don Barger, NPCA southeast regional director. "Air pollution is one of the most critical threats our parks face, and the administration's proposal leaves our parks in jeopardy."
